Maitriya Within
Lan Na Buddhist iconography the future Buddha (Sanskrit: Maitreya; Pali: Metteyya)
is adorned with a crown. In
Thailand the Sanskrit form is used which indicates Mahayan or
Mulasarvastivadian Buddhist influences on Theravada Buddhism.
The same image in central Thailand is known as Sung-Khreung, The One Fully Bedecked with Jewellery. Drawn in
